About Kerrie Sellen

Kerrie Sellen

Director of Restorative Journeys and Co-Director of Practice Institute Australia

Kerrie is the Director of Restorative Journeys and Co-Director of Practice Institute Australia, where she leads transformative work with schools, workplaces, justice systems, government bodies, and community organisations across Australia and internationally.

Kerrie began her career with 15 years in Youth Justice in South Australia, working directly in youth detention and home detention roles. She has since founded and led two large youth service organisations, both celebrated for their strong workplace cultures, deep family engagement, and high-impact outcomes. One of these organisations was formally recognised as Australia’s 6th Best Workplace Culture by Business Review Weekly—an outcome of her intentional leadership and restorative framework.

Kerrie continues to work collaboratively with Restorative Pioneer Terry O’Connell and together, their focus is on helping others to embed the explicit restorative framework they developed, as the relational foundation underpinning all practice. Kerrie's expertise is anchored in a deep understanding of psychosocial safety, emotional regulation, and the science of relationships, conflict and shame.

Kerrie works closely with leaders to create policies, frameworks, and team cultures that support relationships, engagement, and accountability by using practice that builds trust and relational capacity.

Kerrie’s mission is clear: to make Australia a restorative nation where the lives of all people are grounded in stories, trust, empathy and connections.

Stories of Resilience, Healing and Hope

We invite all attendees to come together in smaller groups of 12 to 20 participants, each circle acting as a microcosm of our broader community.

Within these circles, we will hear stories shared by those who have lived through different walks of life - from education, community, and those who have navigated the challenges of incarceration and rehabilitation.
